Meet Ted Harter
Sauk Prairie Middle School
Ted Harter is the Principal at Sauk Prairie Middle School. This is his 12th year serving as the middle school principal here in Sauk Prairie and his 21st year in education. He grew up on a dairy farm in northern Wisconsin, earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education from UW Eau Claire and his Masters in Educational Leadership from Marian College. He served as a teacher and administrator in La Crosse, Sheboygan Falls, and Sheboygan prior to becoming a principal here in Sauk Prairie.
Ted lives in Sauk City with his wife, Mara, and their five kids, Jacob (UW Stout), Maggie (U of Minnesota), Colden (Freshman), Gabe (8th Grade), and Elleigh (5th Grade)! He and his family enjoy just spending time together, often packed in the same room, believe it or not. They also enjoy traveling, hiking, camping, and playing music.
Ted serves on the River Arts Center Board as well as the Sauk Prairie Music Association Board, and is the Chairperson of the Badger Conference Middle Level Principals professional organization. He has also been active as youth soccer coach in the community for over 10 years. And you can catch him playing music with SP Dancing with the Stars alum, Matt Brennan, in their band, Water Street Jacks.
