Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been creating various businesses with little projects I’d created. From paper snowflakes to flower paintings; I’ve been forcing my family to buy my goods for years. When I turned 14, I realized I needed a more practical product and became interested in soap-making. I researched all the processes, watched countless videos and asked for the needed soap-making supplies for Christmas. It wasn’t long before my soap-making had taken over the kitchen! Initially, the business was limited to friends and family, but they were asking for more and more. That’s when I thought I could make this a viable business. In addition to earning money for college, I also wanted to bring awareness to a cause that is important to me. My 9 y/o brother has type 1 diabetes, so when I was thinking of a name, I wanted it to mean something and wanted it to be an opportunity to educate people about this disease. My mom and I brainstormed, we talked about November being Diabetes Awareness Month and the color of the awareness ribbon is blue…and so, “November Blue” was born. I hope you enjoy the soap as much as I have enjoyed taking on this mini-adventure. *A portion of soap sales goes to a diabetes-related organization.
Howard is a printmaker from Loganville, WI. His hand-carved woodcuts and linocuts celebrate the season, offering a touch of the vintage charm mixed with a wink of humor all around. Available as both prints or cards, these make great gifts for those on your list living near or far!
TS Designs is made up of Two Sisters (Trisha & Stephanie) creating wood signs and various craft projects. Their handmade, rustic decor is perfect for any occasion.
John Joseph Coffee:
Who is John Joseph? Well, both us, father and son, III and IV, partners in this adventure of coffee! We started off as coffee drinkers, then we met a coffee roaster! It was just drinks around a campfire, for not even that long, but it changed our possibilities, and at the very least gave us a great idea for a really cool new hobby. Soon after, we built our first roaster, bought our first burlap sack of coffee, and burned our first beans. It didn’t go well, didn’t taste good, and confused our neighbors, but we had a start, a first step, and we liked it. The coffee got better, we learned what was happening and when it should be happening. We came up with a name, a logo (which we drew on all of our bags, some better than others), and started selling at farmers markets, here and there.
When the opportunity arose to expand, in 2017, we jumped at it, and opened up our Roast Shop, at 112 Van Buren. A little bit workshop, a little bit roastery, a bit coffee shop, and a lot of space to do all of the coffee related projects that we have always dreamed of. We operate our Roastshop with the values that we hope to pass on to John Joseph V.
With each pound of coffee, we are proud to share our belief that a cup of coffee is kindness, generosity and energy in liquid form. Coffee brings us together. Drink it. Enjoy it. And for the love of coffee, be kind to one another.
