You’ll efficiently practice various ways to apply colored pencil, then spend the majority of class using a specific technique that allows for detail to capture your chosen subject in your own designed composition. You’ll create color match strips for long term reference tools that allow you to accurately (without guesswork) know and match the subject’s colors in your drawing. What’s new to some who’ve not taken my class is a specific technique, reverse grisaille, to apply color that is strong, dramatic, and long term with controlled sheen AND to apply a water-soluble white base on areas of your drawing that require much lighter intensity than non water-soluble colored pencil traditionally offers. This workshop will add a focus to realistically draw the foreground subject while introducing an abstract background.
No previous experience required. A suggested supply list is available after registration or upon request by emailing Kristina at kcoopman@riverartsinc.org
There is a lunch break during both days of class. Please bring a sack lunch (fridge available) or be prepared to purchase food. There are several restaurants and a grocery store within walking distance of the studio.
