River Arts, Inc. invites the public to a dynamic Fall exhibition celebrating three distinct artistic voices at River Arts on Water. On view August 7th through October 31st 2026, the exhibition features Maggie Mulcahy in the Powder Room Gallery, alongside featured artists Cynthia Quinn (textile) and Whitney Stuart (ceramics). The exhibition will also be available for viewing online through the link below!

Maggie Mulcahy

As the new Exhibitions and Education Manager at River Arts Inc., Maggie Mulcahy is excited to introduce herself to the River Arts, Inc. community through a collection of work that reflects both her creative journey and the experiences that have shaped her as an artist.

In this exhibition, Maggie brings together two distinct bodies of work. A selection of botanical studies inspired by the plants she observed during her travels, alongside photographs documenting murals completed over the past several years while living and working in Colorado. The murals featured in this exhibition represent a collaborative approach to public art. Designed by Maggie and brought to life by community members in both of her homes, Colorado and Wisconsin. Though different in scale and medium, both explore the ways art can connect people to a landscape and their community.

This exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to become acquainted with the artist behind the gallery’s exhibitions and educational programming. It is a glimpse into the experiences, places, and creative practice that she brings with her, and the perspective she hopes to share with the River Arts, Inc. community.

Cynthia Quinn

“My predilection to draw and paint was first exhibited as a young child. My mother would set me in front of an easel and I would paint for hours at a time. As I grew older, I loved to spend most of my time filling entire sketchbooks every few months and reading. The natural world was and is my muse. I am a devoted observer of nature and love learning about flora and fauna.
Drawing, painting and teaching has been my focus the last two decades. But three years ago, during a move and lack of studio for six months, I began to explore stitching and fiber arts as a medium to express myself. I found I could work just about any place and engaged with a wonderful group of encouraging, artistic women who share my new interest. It is rejuvenating to create art through this different lens. Using texture, embroidery threads, beads, and hand-dyed fabrics has added a whole new dimension to my vocabulary of expression. So goes my evolving process. I look forward to the twists and turns.”

Whitney Stuart

Whitney Stuart’s ceramic work draws inspiration from the tradition of quilt making, where individual pieces come together to tell a larger story. This exhibit features her conceptual Mug Quilt. Much like the individual pieces of the quilts her grandmother creates, each mug in this collection shares the same shape, while its unique surface textures and patterns reflect moments of experimentation throughout her creative journey so far.
