Mascots perform an important service in the military. Whether a lion, a monkey, or a dog, military mascots are a source of pride and morale for troops. This exhibit presents a variety of mascots dating back to the Civil War, shining a light on the human side of military service and engaging animal lovers of all ages.
About 75% of military work is considered non-combat. These roles rarely make the headlines, but are vital to every military operation. Exploring the non-combat roles of military service personnel, including work as beauticians, military police, dentists, mechanics, and photographers, this exhibit showcases an often overlooked but highly relatable side of military life.
This exhibit is curated by River Arts Inc. and celebrates the September 24, 2016 and April 22, 2017 Badger Honor Flights fully funded by the extraordinary Sauk Prairie community through the Operation Eagles’ Wings campaign. It will give special recognition to our veterans, the Badger Honor Flight Network, and Heroes for Honor.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
