In this 4 hour workshop, we will practice a variety of different techniques for painting trees. We will look at how to paint clumps of trees far away, how to paint medium detailed trees a bit closer, and how to paint bark up close. We will also look at painting different types of trees including hardwoods, birch, and pine trees. This class will be a workshop model- we will learn and practice these techniques so that you can test them out in your landscape paintings at home. I do suggest having a basic understanding of watercolors before taking this class. You are welcome to use all of my professional supplies, or, bring your own supplies to work with during the class.

Artist Bio: A former Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) elementary school teacher, Emily started painting mid-pandemic as a way to destress after a long day in the classroom. Since then, she has turned her love for watercolors into a career. Emily finds inspiration from her love for the outdoors. In addition to botanical watercolors, she also enjoys painting pet portraits. As a current resident of Madison, Wisconsin, she teaches watercolor classes and workshops throughout Dane County.
